Your questions answered
Moving out of your own home is probably one of the biggest steps you will ever have to consider and Kingdom Homes Ltd appreciate and understand your anxiety. To help you along every step of the way we have prepared a list of the most frequently asked questions in an effort to smooth your path should this day be about to dawn.
Kingdom Homes Ltd realize this may not be a comprehensive list of your questions and would remind you to contact any of the homes, or indeed the head office, should there be anything else that you might wish to ask.
Will I be looked after on a 24 hour basis?
Yes,
every Kingdom Homes Resident is assessed on their individual needs.
Although some might require more help than others, everyone is
encouraged to retain their independence and privacy. Upon admission
each resident has an individual care plan drawn up which details how
they would like to be cared for. All homes are staffed round the clock
to ensure that the needs and requirements of residents are met.
Can my visitors call at the home at anytime?
Yes,
there are no restrictions made on anyone visiting the home and indeed
friends and relatives are encouraged to visit you as often as you and
they wish. It is also our policy to make all visitors feel welcome and
indeed on their arrival they will be offered tea or coffee and biscuits.
Am I allowed to bring personal items into the home?
Yes, we actively encourage residents to bring things which will make them feel even more at home.
Will I be able to go out independently?
Yes,
maintaining independence is just as important to Kingdom Homes as it is
to residents, with notice arrangements can be made for a member of
staff to assist you to go shopping.
Can I retain registration with my own doctor?
Yes, this is dependant only on the doctor agreeing that you are within their practice radius.
What happens if I become ill?
Kingdom
Homes staff will always request a visit by your doctor and your
relatives or next of kin will always be informed. Unfortunately, the
homes cannot give a guarantee of a staff escort for planned external
appointments, however in the case or emergency admission to hospital,
staff will accompany you. Relatives and family will be invited and
encouraged to accompany you to any external appointments such as
hospital outpatients, dental & optician appointments. In some cases
residents may qualify for ambulance transport, where this is not the
case, staff will be happy to assist you in making arrangements for a
taxi or liaise with your family to accompany you.
Do I have a choice of food?
Yes,
meals are freshly cooked at the home, with a choice of menu available.
Special diets and preferences can be catered for. Pride is taken in
providing traditional home cooking and baking. Residents can also
request food and beverages whenever they require them.
Do Kingdom Homes offer an activities programme?
Yes,
a wide and varied activities programme is available to all residents
who are actively encouraged to provide any additional suggestions which
could further enhance this service.
Can I go to bed and get up when I wish?
Yes, every effort is made to make your residency just like living at home.
Will anyone understand how I feel about giving up my home?
Yes,
everyone understands the importance and impact that your decision to
move will have. We will make every effort to ensure that you
familiarize yourself with your new surroundings but it is our
experience that residents are often surprised at how easy it is to
settle in.
Does the home offer Respite Care?
Yes,
Kingdom Homes can offer short-term care from a few days to a few weeks
depending on the need of the resident or their carer.
Can I bring my pet?
We
at Kingdom Homes Ltd recognise that moving into care home can be a
distressing time, this distress can be exasperated when a person must
part with their pet before moving in. Wherever possible, the home will
accommodate a residents pet, however the final decision would be made
by the individual home manager and would depend on the number and type
of animals already in the home, and the type of behaviour of the
proposed pet.
What about if I am not happy or I'm worried about something?
All
residents are encouraged to feel completely free to make comments about
any part of the service that is provided. Indeed Kingdom Homes have an
established complaints procedure and your comments will always be
recorded and acted upon. Every resident is allocated a designated
member of staff as their key worker, enabling you to build a special
relationship and to discuss any personal worries or problems with them
or the Care Manager.
Thank you for your interest in the Kingdom Homes Ltd property portfolio.
We would once again extend a warm invitation to come along to any of our homes where our management team will be delighted to show you round, to answer any questions you might have and help you through this potentially difficult time in your life.
